Stream sounds straight to your ear!

Are you one of the one in six Australians experiencing some form of hearing loss? There may be something you can do to ensure you stay connected with loved ones, and never miss the precious sounds in your life.

Our audiologist Tracy Ong from Sounds of Life can use various strategies to test your hearing and determine whether it’s in the normal range. And if hearing loss is detected, she can help with a range of hearing device options.

Types of hearing loss

There are two main types of hearing loss: conductive and sensorineural. Conductive hearing loss can be caused by obstructions or malfunctions, such as a damaged ear drum or impacted ear wax. Sensorineural can be caused by damage to the hair cells in the inner ear, or by the natural ageing process, or exposure to loud noises.

Audiology at the Health Hub

No matter which type of hearing loss you’re suffering, Tracy can take you through the testing process and evaluate your hearing needs. Your first appointment will usually be a hearing assessment, which involves playing a series of tones through headphones, to ascertain:

  • your hearing capacity in each ear
  • how well you hear the volume and pitch of different sounds
  • the impact your hearing is having on your communication.

Tracy can then talk you through your treatment options, if required, including our comprehensive range of products and services that can assist you with all of your hearing and communication needs, including:

  • hearing aids
  • hearing aid assessments and fittings
  • training on listening and communication skills
  • hearing aid care and maintenance.

Hearing aids can help your everyday life by making speed louder and clearer, helping you to participate more easily in everyday activities.
