Leone James: Oral Health Therapist

Leone’s career began as a School Dental Therapist in 1978 where she worked for the Health Dept in Cairns and the surrounding district. Her role as a Dental Therapist included restorative dentistry to school children, health promotion and travelling to remote northern districts in a dental team, to provide services to indigenous communities.

After taking time off to have her three daughters, Leone returned to work in 1996.

To further her career, Leone completed a qualification in Dental Hygiene practice and a Degree in Health Science (Public Health), in 2001. She has been working at TUH for 10years and her passion is to improve the oral health of her patients through preventative advice, cleaning and scaling of teeth.

Leone also worked at the School of Dentistry, UQ as a clinical supervisor to dental students in the area of Dental Hygiene and Periodontics.

She enjoys travelling overseas with her husband and cake decorating.
